Berry Iron and Metal Company is now hiring a Building Maintenance Technician to be based out the Chilhowie, VA offices.

Responsibilities

• Survey facilities and repair mechanical systems to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Complete maintenance work order requests as assigned including; HVAC repair, appliance repair, electrical work, painting, carpentry and other general maintenance
• Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
• Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
• Inspect alarm systems and schedule repairs when needed
• Perform general maintenance repairs as needed (lock repair, window replacement, etc.)
• Conduct pest control activities such as insecticide application
• Conduct general upkeep procedures including but not limited to pressure washing and landscaping

Skills

• Proven experience working as a maintenance technician
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other systems
• Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools as well as household appliances and devices
• Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance
• Proper licensure and ability to operate Company vehicles
• High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus
• Other duties as assigned
